postcard...done?

well...this is the big idea. I think I'm going to try it without the grass...as Steve said it's iffy to have the grass bleeding (to the edges)...so we'll see if I can't do something where they're standing on something (like a shadow, at least)...

What if you shrink your image on the front and place your website at the bottom of it as if the banner they tore through had text place on it.
Then on the back when you shrink the character size it will make more sense why there is a blank area, but then again you have grass there...so never mind.

I would try to get your website on the front though.

oh yeah! I completely forgot about the words that need to go on the front of postcards! jeez!

Thanks for reminding me!

The shading on these little guys is very good...looks very dimensional to me. I also think your concept is very creative.

Now this may be overkill, but had you considered making a design for the white part of the postcard? It'd be interesting to see how it'd look with them bustin' through a beach postcard - although that's not much room to work with.

I think you could take the grass-horizon line up a bit on the back of the card. There's no reason why the rolling hills can't be in front of them as well.

Man, wouldn't it be cool to glue some mirrored paper down on the back of the card to show the viewers reflection?

I really like the grass on the back. It places them in their environment - not a distraction for me, but I could see a sky balancing it out.

Awesome work!

Yeah - I'm still not satisfied with it entirely...I would have LOVED to be able to make the card with some sort of reflecting something (like a mirror) so when you turn the card around it looks like they're looking at you...

I also like the idea of having them burst through a postcard...which is dumb that I didn't even think of it - since they ARE bursting through a postcard...but I only thought about it being a white piece of paper that they were looking through...I even thought about lined paper...and I might do that...anyway - I'm still working it - I already turned in this version for that Illustrator's Day contest because the deadline was already up - but I still want to improve it so I can mail it out for real...

I really like the idea, but I think it isn't quite finished yet...probably because the text isn't there yet and I would love to see what you come up with the lined notebook paper. The characters themselves look great and the idea is superlative. I am sure you will have a great finish on it. :)

Oh yeah, lined paper would look good I think! That would probably help the second side too, differentiating between the pillow guys' world and our world through the rip. Or, maybe blue sky around the rip on the back.
