Mermaid

Not for any kids book, just wanted to post something since it's been so long.

Nice, she seems like a cross between a bat, a Pug and a cockroach. I would really like to see a version of the Little Mermaid using this character as Ariel. It would be very interesting and a big hit. I'm always fascinated by your characters. Strangely enough your characters all seem to appeal to me more greyscaled. Maybe it helps to see all of the details that went into the illustration this way. This one is my favorite I've since so far.

Bwaha! Mermaid. Oh I agree, wouldn't this be awesome in a Little Mermaid story?
Very humorous, love the bathing suit and the pudgyness. Great work, Steve!

why are we assuming it's a she?

Wow! I like it! Great attention to the liquid coming outta the facial area! And I always like your light sources and eyeball glossiness!

The head and the horns coming outta the head are quite terrific in their rendering, I love the texture of the horns!

The only thing I will say is that the second finger on the right hand (the character's right hand) is tangenting the bikini.

Very nice illustration!

As usual your details are impeccable, but dang, he/she/it is pretty U-G-L-Y...LOL I like that it is in black and white...very classy. :)
