Getting your art work licensed

How do I go about doing that? Or am I supposed to wait till I'm approached? I know a few of you guys have experience with this in the stamping community, etc. Thanks in advance for your help~

Mummy Skunk...

This monster stinks!

So this is yet another illustration of these nameless square animals. I did this drawing for illustration friday (I'm addicted to getting views on my blog...300 over the weekend! WHOO!).

But whatcha think? Is there anything this piece needs? Anything this little fella could use? Usually the skunk is a girl, but I didn't put eyelashes on this one, so it's a fella...

Portfolio site

Hello, hello! I hope you guys are having a good summer (yeay for football season starting!)

I just wanted to share something cool. Deviant Art apparently now offers portfolio hosting. I have a free account, and it doesn't look too shabby (if I may say so myself ^_^)

Here's my dummy portfolio: Kris Fulk Illustration I link it with my photography portfolio at http://www.krisfulk.com.

I love that it's very clean and easy on the eyes, and let's you have multiple galleries. Please pardon the art, though, since most of those are just placeholders lol. I also whipped this up in 5 minutes.

It's a nice, cheap alternative for sure :)

My book spread samps

This is a book proposal I am sending out to publishers in a week or two. I sent it to one publisher that I frequently work with and they liked it but thought it was a little too close to the little train that could, which is exactly what I modeled this book after so I wasn't surprised by that. The editor encouraged me to send out the book to other publishers though.

I just wanted to do two full color spread page to show that I can draw and color. Wanted to make sure this is reading good. Too set the scene it's late in the day so that's why the sky is so yellow as the sun is starting to set.

Domain Registering...

I've been using a portfolio hosting service and am wanting to move on. They've been handling the domain and hosting for a flat annual fee. Can you guys recommend some reputable companies for domain registration only (godaddy, etc.)? I just want to make sure I'm going with a solid company.

Any and all input is most appreciated.

Thanks!

Getting out of a rut

Hi guys,
I am in a rut. Since I came from a background in fantasy art licensing, I am so used to painting single characters without ever repeating that character for another painting. I must stop doing this! Anyone else find they have that problem, not really working with the same characters/stories? How do you break this habit?
I'm thinking for one of doing like Pete is doing, and picking a folk tale or similar to do complete illustrations for.
What do I lack in my portfolio? Please have a look: http://www.carmenkeys.com/illustration.html
I need a serious game plan for getting back on track and moving forward towards my book illustration goals. Should I have some line art in there? Nature art?
And how do you all keep yourselves on track with your goals?
Thanks in advance!!
