Another day...another boring illustration

Actually it's the panda that's bored - I want to do two pictures - this one and another where the panda is excited and the skunk is juggling something interesting...I hope to finish that one by this weekend (as my show is due in about two weeks)...Let me know what you think as this goes up on a wall for people to stare at...

EDITED!!!!

so I redid several bits - I changed the ball colors that the skunk is juggling (as well as moving the top ball down a little bit, so it was overlapping some of the rock background and not framed by one of the rocks) and i desaturated the yellow ball so it wasn't so much brighter than the other ones, I also changed a bit about the carpet - moved it away from the wall, made the circles on the right hand side smaller, and made the pattern blend in more...I like the changes, and I think it's a stronger piece! Thanks for the suggestions!

Very cute and dynamic! My only comment is that something about the yellow ball draws the eye unnecessarily ... maybe the lighter value compared to the three other balls, the color's closeness to the crown and sceptre, and the fact that it happens to completely fit into the stone that's behind it on the wall. Maybe change its color and drop it down a tad bit? Great job!

I really like the color palette you've chosen. The purple hints at royalty. I think I read somewhere that only royalty was allowed to wear purple at some point in history. I also think that the skunk's color has enough difference in value to not be too similar, so that's a plus. And the gold compliments it well.

It's really nice work, Isaac. Everything is nice and clean. Hmm. King Panda's feet seem to be pointing to the right slightly more than necessary. I feel like the bottom shapes of those feet should mirror the shape of his eyes - which would straiten them out a bit. They seem to be pointing to the skunk at this point. Ready for an even nit pickier one? The circles on the right band of the rug are larger than the one's on the left. That might throw your perspective a bit. Also, you might consider ending the rug before it meets the rear wall to create some separation. Last idea? Motion lines on the balls? I could take or leave that one.

Nice colors and placement of shadow. It's strong work and I think it'll show well. How big do you make these when you display/print them? Or does Nickelodeon have enough cash to put up humongous LCD displays on the walls...that'd be awesome! :) You'll have to post some pics of the show when it's over. I'm curious to see the innards of Nickelodeon.

Thanks for the comments - I'm going to change the ball colors around (the blue and yellow will switch) and we'll see if that takes care of the ball problem...and I never even noticed the perspective circles on the carpet! So dumb...thanks for pointing it out! I'll have to definitely change that! How did that side get so big?!? And separating the rug from the wall...I thought about it, and since someone noticed, I'll have to change that as well...

Anyhow - thanks for helping me make this pic better!

It might be funny if the skunk were dropping the balls or some how screwing up the act.I like the piece I just think it needs a little something. Not as strong as the parade illustration. Maybe if the panda were letting out a huge yawn.
I don't know, just something else to strengthen the idea of how mundane this preformance is.

Ooo yeah, I like the idea of the panda yawning. The changes you made look great, the framed ball was really bothering me before too, but you changed it before I got around to commenting!

Looks fantastic Isaac! I agree with the changes. It surprises me how much of a difference the rug makes sitting away from the wall. Made the whole space feel more intimate. The brick was a bugger for me as well. Glad to see the changes and I think it's a fun and entertaining piece!

The last version really pops. I see that you have made your purple character more 3D than the white one. I would just make the white character more 3D to match things a bit. Love the emotions of the crowned fellows face.
