There's a Monster in the Fridge

Here's an illustration I've been working on for a couple of weeks now.

Nice work, Steve. I particularly like the lighting. You've got lots going on and you're controlling the light sources really well! Let's see how many are there?

Fridge light
Moonlight
light from other room
Whew!

I did notice a few things that jumped out at me...all of which are about the little girl. Her forearms appear to be different sizes (particularly at the wrist). Something about her lower torso/hip region looks unresolved. Isaac might also see a tangent with her finger and her hair (beat him to it).

All in all, I'd say this illustration looks really good. The composition is solid and there's lots for the viewer to look at - makes me think of a real setting.

I agree with Pete.I love everything about this except the girl. The lighting is great. The colors are wonderful. I think the setting works really well too.

FINGER AND HAIR!!! Pete might have said it first, but I said it loudest...

Terrific illustration! So much going on - lots of great detail - but it's not overwhelming in detail, just enough to be terrific.

With that said - there are a couple of things - there's quite a lot of dimension, but the countertop behind the monster flattens out a bit - and there's a line that's lit up that should be moved further away from the monster...also the cabinet above the counter top comes all the way down to meet the tile, and it seems like it would stop before it got that far...or would it?

And the jar of pickles tangents with the bowl that's upside down which kind of flattens them out. Or makes it look like the jar is resting on top of the pickles...

As for the little girl - I guess it'd help to know more of the story, if there's a drawing of the monster on the fridge, then maybe he's more of a friend and she's not scared but rather about to tell him off...? Anyway - I think her pose is a little stiff and awkward. And would her head be facing away from everything else? Just something to think about.

In any case - it's a terrific illustration - I love how much drawing you put into it - and like they said above, the light sources and color are amazing. Very solid piece...

OK so the girl sucks I get it. But seriously, thanks so much for the comments I am changing the girl right now as we speak. I think the final piece will be much stronger thanks to all of your input.
