Sorry I have been missing

Don't think that I haven't been working. I have, just have nothing all that new to post. Hope to have spread for a book that I have been working on done and ready to look at next week sometime. I am also posting on a blog called Sketch a Day where the members have to post a new sketch almost everyday or you get kicked off. The sketching isn't the hard part, it's the taking the picture and posting that I find tedious as hell. So here is a samp of a sketch on mine that you would find on that site. Oh, and here's a link too LINK

I agrees about photographing. I spent a considerable amount of time trying to find an oversize scanner only to discover that they are very pricey. Photo = frustration for me too.

I really enjoy this one. This animals features are bizarre to draw (at least when I do it) and you've captured it nicely. I particularly like the eyelashes.

Any consideration to throwing a highlight on his eye to show a light source? I know a giraffe's eyes are virtually black but it might give it some sparkle.

Best of luck not getting kicked off your blog! It looks like a lot of fun with some very talented artists.

I so wanted to add a highlight in the eye, but the photo had none. The giraffe head is the weirdest thing to draw. I think it is the oddest animal on the planet. I always start drawing then like horses if I don't reference them.

I love giraffes and this is a lovely one. I agree about the eye highlight, but overall this is a lovely animal. It looks realistic, but not...you have captured it well. I can't see anything else to discuss....:)

I hope the book is going well. Love the monsters too. :)

you've been missing? You're the one that posts the most!

I feel the same though - i've been working on a bunch of drawings for a pitch for Nick Jr that I'm going to be doing next week or so...

Anyway - I like the Giraffe - the eye is a little ominous without any highlights - but it's a terribly solid piece.

I can't believe you'd agree to a sketch a day - especially with a sketch this complex! Sounds like a hell of a challenge! Good luck! Every day...holy cow!
