staying fresh

i painted this gal before (you can see the acrylic version on my personal blog) but wanted to see how she would look utilizing some of the more gestural painting techniques i've been employing lately. its faster, messier, and riskier (for me, anyways) - but i enjoy it!

color continues to be a challenge. i want to get to a point where i'm developing shadows from other hues, rather than the standard darker version of the local color. back to the drawing board!

Pete! I know what you mean about developing shadows. I am trying to ease back into pastels, but the shadows are kicking my butt.

What's the story here? There looks to be a fire!

hey, kris!

no real story for this one, purely just experimenting with edges and color. its based upon another painting i did a couple years back. i can see the fire too and wish there was something dramatic going on...but its just an effort to compliment the green of her shirt.

you should post some of your pastel work!

I think she's just hungry because she sees the desserts in the previous post!

I like it - it's a good cartoon representation. And I'm a sucker for characters sticking their tongues out.

And I totally dig that you're experimenting with texture and color. It looks like you're doing a good job with it!

I love this messier look...it is more organic, but I like the old way too...:)

any of your work, works for me. LOL
