My NEW book ships tomorrow

So after the success of my first book, Drawing Animals With Numbers I was able to use the money I made on that book to print Drawing Monsters With Letters. I am really excited about this book. After learning so much about self publishing I was able to loosen up and have more fun with this book. The other nice thing was getting orders for the book a month before it came out. People really liked the first book and that only makes it easier to sell the next book. I have had a blast promoting the books all over the Mid West and talking to so many kids and sharing my love of drawing with them.

that's fantastic! I love your monsters and it's quite an ingenious idea! Good luck and congrats on getting it out there!

Very clever stuff!

The cover looks great!

Good to know your having success with self publishing. I've thought about going that route if I keep spinning my wheels in the art director search. What did you think of the Schoolism class on that subject (I think I remember you mentioning it as a jumping off point).

Again, awesome news!

I am so glad to hear how well the book is doing. I am going to pass the info on about getting it to a few people I know might like it for their kids. Congrats. So glad you are doing a second one!

The schoolism class on self publishing is a good place to start. I also bought a book The Dummies Guide to Self Publishing. The hardest thing is getting your book into stores. I only have it in a few right now. No one at a store can make decisions, even the very small stores don't act quickly on purchasing books or other items. Publishers have contacted me wanting to buy the books, and I am in talks with some of them. But the main way I sell them is through my school visits. I have sold over 1,500 books so far with more still selling. I let the schools keep 30% off of every book sold to go to their library or whatever they want to use the money for. Now that my new book is coming out before Christmas the schools I already talked to want boxes of books to sell so they can make more money off of the new book too. It's a win win situation for everyone.
