Illustration Friday -Parade

I tried posting the icon for the topic, PARADE to the illustration friday site, but for some reason it wasn't working. I thought I'd put it here . I did this a while back mostly to do something with children in it . Happy to be on this site. I am a big fan of several of the artists.

wow! This is quite a fantastic illustration! I like the movement and the posing...and how you broke up the different planes from foreground to background...there's a lot of depth that could have been flattened out by the profile poses, but isn't! I only wish I could see a bigger version so i could nickpick, but I don't know if i'd have anything to say other than terrific illustration, and I can't wait to see more!

Hi, Patti! Welcome to the group! I, like Isaac, wish I could see a bigger version of this awesome illustration. Is this soft pastels? I have the hardest time with that medium -_- How big an illustration is it? There's so much energy in this image too.

I can't remember the exact dimensions . I think it is around 15" x 22. It is actually waterbased oils. I really like like working with them. I don't know how archival they are,but I figure I'm not exactly creating masterpieces.

great action poses, you really captured the movements of kids. Did you have any photo reference?

I had a mix of different photos that I used. It helps me to see how the fabric in the clothes works in different positionsl. I also had a bunch of dog photos that I used.(for the dog)

I like it as well! Excellent first post.

I like the action of your characters and your setting places them nicely. I also enjoy your sky. I like seeing how people incorporate other colors into the atmosphere.

I'm jumping on the wagon and saying I love it too! The dog in the hat is fantastic (as well as the kids) and I really love the "retro" feel. It reminds me of illustrations from my childhood- very nostalgic.

The only critique I could give is where are the balloons connected? To her wrist? It is hardly noticeable, but thought I'd mention it.

The image is a bit small to tell, but the balloon strings are actually in her hand.
