Illustration Friday - Instinct
I promise to get something that isn't finished up here in the near future. I am about to start working on a larger portfolio illustration, so I will probably want some serious input. Until then, I was pleased with this new little watercolor that I put together.

Hi, Carmen! I love the perspective on this and the coloring is fantastic! The shoulders are slightly out of balance to me, but I love the vortex-like direction of the composition. You guys make me want to break out my watercolors lol, but I know that way for me lies only frustration ^_~
Oops, I think she meant Candace heheh ;)
I love the spiralling motion in this -- the lines on the hive, the bend of the tree, and the bees all circling down! This has a strong sense of movement.
I like the perspective too, it's always fun to see a painting from an unusual angle.
If I were to make a nitpick, I suppose I would add a few small twigs/leaves along that branch so that it looks more branchlike rather than trunklike. But it's fabulous as is!!
Oh, doh - I had actually been surfing our member's blog sites to give me ideas for mine, and...that's how I got mixed up O_o Sowee!
Wow! I'm very pleased with it too! Very cute characters - even the bees are cute! I love the branch which breaks up the page and that you framed it with the grass (and branch). Terrific stuff!
Very nice painting, Candace. I particularly like the way you blended the grass with different hues of green. I also like the creative viewpoint...very swirly! I gotta steal your idea of leaving white space...I always like how that looks.
Nice work, I also like the grass and composition.
I love it...the colors are great, the angle is interesting, and it is just right. :)
