Some Paint

Here it is with some paint. I think it makes a bit more sense now too. :P At least I hope it does. I did make the moon a bit larger, but thinking the colors of those figures in the back will be a bit more reduced than the boy on the butterfly. Just to make him the focus. Going for the highly detailed style. ;)

Looks great! I can't wait to see how it ends! I think the radiant lighting is awesome. I'd love to watch a time-lapse of your painting...so I can see all your secret tricks! ;)

No kiding Pete...We need a tutorial of how you get that soft pink glow. I would love to know what color it is? . :) Do you mask off parts? I have a question thought about what he is holding. Is it a mirror? As always, I love your style...can't wait to see it done.

This is beautiful, magical, and a very interesting composition. The children are such eye catchers, full of personality, despite their small size in the overall picture. I love the details on the butterflies too. I initially thought the smaller butterflies are due to perspective (they add a lot of depth). Later I noticed one of them overlapping a large butterfly, so I'm not sure ... would love to see this finished.

Looking great so far! I like the rainbow streamers coming from the big butterfly. I wonder what colors you will choose for the butterflies?

Thanks you guys! I don't mask anything, I just work around them, painting from one corner down in small sections. The colors I use for the warm glows are yellow ochre and Alizarin Crimson Hue. A lot of water and blending. Hehe...I go through some brushes pretty fast because of how I blend (first wet then dry picking up the edges of the fade). I'm awfully aggressive with my tools to get the effects I want. :P

Honestly Carmen, I was going to paint them like real butterflies...but decided today that I'm going to make them up. :D I think that's what I'm going to work on tomorrow...the white shapes they're creating is bugging me now.
