I second that, Steve. This piece looks highly refined and complete - and has lots of character. What I like most about it is that fact that it looks natural and has expression. It's very believable.
Looks like watercolor with another medium. I'm curious to know. Could be really refined oil too...I've seen it happen! :D
I just love his expression and the thumbs up! We have tons of squirrels around my house and they all have their own personality. I can totally see this guy running across my path, stopping, and posing like this saying "Yeah!". hehe...you can stop my imagination at any time...really.
Wow...now that is impressive. Great expression and lovely definition of the fur. Really curious what medium you use. Love it all around. He (she?) made me smile right away. :)
This is actually done in the water based oils. Ive done a ton of work with watercolors, but I am finding the oils my paint of choice for the moment. Aja, I've only sent out a few of the dummies. Things are not great in the publishing area right now. I keep hearing about more and more editors getting laid off. I am really focusing on licensing work right now as I continue to send out dummies. I looked at your site and you have some really sweet animals. I really like you avatar. Patti
Patti, I love everything about your squirrel (details, pose, everything), specially since for some reason, he has a NJ accent in my head. "Fuggedabout it!"

Very nice colors and the face is just plain funny. Good fur style too. What media did you use to make this cute little guy?

Now I'm dying to know what the dummy looks like.
What a beautiful technique you have! Watercolor? He's got some good personality, too, while also remaining realistic.

Beautiful work! And awesome craftsmanship.
I think you have done a great amount of detailed work here. I have eyeballed it many times and would not change a thing. Great work!

quite nice! Great textures...good anatomy...I quite like it! Very solid drawing!
I saw this at the Nor Cal SCBWI and was blown away. I read your dummy there too- it was GREAT and I can absolutely see it being published!

Lol.
Patti - I went to your blog - and the link to your website doesn't work - http://www.pattigay.com - is it down? Or was it never up? Or am I mistaken?
Anyhow - just thought you might like to know...
Also - your stuff is very photo realistic! I don't know how you have the patience for it! But I totally admire the work I've seen so far!
