Evolution wiped out the short stumpy giraffe...

This is another piece for my gallery show. I was quite excited when I came up with it - I haven't been doing anything but three quarter front views of my characters - and this was a way to get a different angle (well...same angle, but from a more extreme point of view)...but now that it's finished - i don't know....what does ya think?
Also - never volunteer yourself to do a solo show...these things waste way too much time and money...it's so time consuming picking out a different matt and frame for each and every single piece - I've defaulted to black frames for a few - but I had to push it a bit for my newer pieces. I spent 8 hours yesterday just putting together the frames and matts and drawings for only 13 images (I have 52 total)...Sigh...the show starts on the 10th, so I'm almost there...

I like these characters more and more every time you post something. You've mentioned looking to publish these guys. Have you had any responses from publishers? I'm not an editor/AD but these little guys just seem so marketable. I have little boy who would eat these characters up!

Anyway, I think the different vantage point is really good. The color of the giraffe really pops. And I like your green selection and gradation. Very nice and bold colors!

He looks so pathetic (in a good way)! :)

His expression comes through right away, but maybe you could push it a bit more by showing some of his lower eyelid...maybe with a shiny little tear forming. sniff...sniff...sniff...

Good luck with the show!

My first solo show was in North Dakota. I lived in Connecticut at the time. Not only did I have to frame and matt the art, I also had to buy reusable art shipping boxes, pay for shipping to the show and then make arrangements when all the artwork was returned to have them delivered!

Good luck with the show!

This is great, Isaac! It is really nice to see something of yours from a different perspective. And a pillow giraffe, too cute!
Maybe there could be some little spot highlights at the bottom edge of his eyes, like tears forming there that haven't dropped yet. I think it would round his eyes out more that way, also.
I feel bad for the little guy! Maybe mom will get that leaf for him.

Omg! Too cute, and my heart aches for him. I know, I'm just as pathetic. Beautiful Isaac. I connected with the character right away and got the story too. Great perspective and refreshing composition. I agree with Pete, these gotta be marketable somewhere by someone. They're too good not to be!

I can't imagine doing a solo show, may God be with you through the end. :P
