This is another image I have been working on for a long time. Thanks to everyone who had input in this to make it a better illustration. I don't know if I was able to get the dog's body right, but I can't figure out what I can do to make it better. I also extended the grass as Patti suggested. Please let me know if there is anything else I can improve on.

I'd like to see bigger drool. As it is, it's hard to notice.

Hi Steve, I have a few suggestions for you to consider in the area of color. Please try color #532d2d for the open mouth. It may help bring the dog's eyes and expression into focus. Also try darkening the entire fence maybe a shade darker so that the cat pops and the dog is brought closer to the viewer. You may also consider darkening the area of the dog's claws or defining the claws and making the ball look really used and a bit more dirty. Like the ball is Butch's really only hope for an active companion.
There, I said it. Now, best of luck with this piece. It looks so fantastic already that I can't imagine how extraordinary it will look when it is all over.
I thought about doing that and I even had a big glob of drool on the ball, but I didn't want it to get overwhelming. I might make it a bit bigger.
