Lots of it is working very, very well. The fuzziness of the background is awesome and really creates dimension which throws your characters into the foreground dramatically. The characters are great and really convey emotion and interaction with one another.
I also enjoy the small details (small flowers and ladybug). That bear nose is my favorite part. Very dimensional and well rendered.
You've created a very convincing 3D feel.
The shadows in the tree leaves, in the background, look a bit incomplete to me. Specifically, the ones on the right are good, but the center and left leaf shadows look unresolved. Also, there's some highlighting on bushes (center) that don't appear anywhere else in the other bushes. Pretty small things for sure, but they might make the overall composition more balanced.
The overall color palette is nice too. None of the colors are competing which gives it a real nice warm feel. Awesome!
Very nice stuff Steve! I like your characters! I wish you only drew monsters really well, but apparently you can do it all! Nice characters, nice poses, good job on the fuzzing out of the background to give it depth - I like the sun coming in from the right...
The only thing that stands out to me is the outline of the Bear's arm. But only because nothing else is lined. Oh - and the rabbit's left tooth kind of tangents his lower jaw line...so it'd be nice to move one of those things up or down to offset them.
Thanks so much. Really helped. I kind of got pooped out on making leaves, but I'll go back and add more in the BKGD to finish it up. I will also change the rabbits teeth and the line on the bears' arm.
It is a very captivating image. My only comment is to vary the brown between the bear and trees to make the bear pop out a bit more from the background. But that's a nitpick.
Hi Steve- characters look great. My thoughts mirror Lyons- when I first saw the illustration I thought it would be better if the trees and the bear were more differentiated. You might change the yellow behind the trees as well...Your colors usually pop a lot more- is there a reason they are all so similar?

Anyway - good stuff!
