Her Fears Were Magnified (Revised)

Here it is with revisions! Thank you everyone for your great suggestions -- I really was about ready to toss this piece in the garbage. You see something in it that I cannot see, so that's rather comforting (it's been a tough creative block kind of week!). Hopefully the contrast is bumped up a bit in this version.

Carmen, way better! It's more three dimensional and the directionality is more obvious. I think, if anything, a light touch of more yellow by the apex of the vortex for a more twilighty look. But it looks really great if you decide to stop here.

Agreed. I like the changes very much. I also like that you added some texture to the foremost foliage. Excellent bolt of lightning, too!

I am currently experiencing a massive dose of artist's block. Guess the only thing to do is work through it.

This is terrific! Sorry I missed the first round of revisions! But whatever was said, sure did help this piece along!

Not that it needed much help in the first place. I really like the spiral sky background. And the way you set off the dark house with the lighter bushes/trees on either side really help add dimension to the background and set it off from the foreground.

The main character in this is done so well! I love the face and the subtle color variation that brightens and adds dimension to her face. And the way you framed her face with her hair is also quite nice.

If I was going to nitpick - I would say that her face might need some shadow on the right side (her right, our left) where the hair curves around. A shadow would help offset the hair and add even more depth. It doesn't have to be a huge shadow, just something to help pull the hair away from the face a bit.

Great job!

I didn't get a chance to comment on this piece, but I really like it. I like the colors you used and the expression on the girls face is very nice.

As always, I like your style and coloring choices. Love the sky and the birds. I'd say it is done and looks great. I do like the contrast better in this version. :)
